about
My name is Lisa and I am a journalist, marketing professional, and proposal writer. I am currently studying at Concordia University in Montreal, taking courses in journalism, French, communications, and linguistics. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in History and Political Science from Brandon University in Manitoba. I have worked at various newspapers as a reporter/editor and professional architectural and engineering firms doing procurement in Calgary and Winnipeg and also bring years of experience across other industries like biotechnology and non profits. I am also a visual artist, having exhibited my pottery and photography in various art galleries and shows and have several of my ceramic sculptures and 35mm film images in private collections across Canada.
I grew up in a multilingual and multicultural community in the United Arab Emirates. I was formally educated in English, Arabic, French and Bengali and taught myself Hindi/Urdu. I unfortunately no longer speak Arabic and am currently working on improving my French, one of the many reasons I moved to Montreal! I’ve overcome a lot in my life but also have been blessed with many fortunes, and believe the more privileges you have the more opportunities you have and the more opportunities you have the more responsibility you have - which has also been my drive to made a difference. In my free time, I love baking, traveling, writing, volunteering and exploring cuisines.
